The Tale of Peter Rabbit
彼得兔的故事
Once upon a time there were four little Rabbits, and their names were, Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, and Peter. They lived with their Mother in the root of a very big tree.
从前有四只小兔子，他们的名字叫弗洛普茜，默普茜，棉球尾，和彼得。他们和妈妈一起，居住在大树底下。
“Now my dears,” said old Mrs. Rabbit one morning, “you may go into the fields or down the lane, but don't go into Mr. George's garden.”
Then old Mrs. Rabbit took a basket and her umbrella, and went through the wood to the baker's. She bought a loaf of brown bread and five currant buns.
“孩子们”兔妈妈某天早上说，“你们可以去田地或者小巷玩耍，但是不可以去乔治先生的花园里。”
然后兔妈妈带上篮子和雨伞，穿过森林去到面包师处。她买了一条面包和五个葡萄干圆面包。
Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail, who were good little bunnies, went down the lane to gather blackberries。
弗洛普茜，默普茜，棉球尾是乖孩子，他们都在小巷里采摘黑莓。
But Peter, who was very naughty, ran straight away to Mr. George's garden, and squeezed under the gate! First he ate some carrots. And then, feeling rather hungry, he went to look for something else.
但是彼得，他很调皮，直直的跑去了乔治先生的花园，而且还从门下穿了进去花园。彼得吃了些胡萝卜。觉得还是饿，他继续找其他东西来吃。
But round the end of road, he met Mr. George! Mr. George was on his hands and knees planting out young cabbages, but he jumped up and ran after Peter, waving a rake and calling out, 'Stop thief!'
Peter was most dreadfully frightened; he rushed all over the garden and lost one of his shoes.
一个转角处，他碰上了乔治先生！乔治正跪在地上，用手打理着卷心菜，然后乔治蹦跳起来，追赶着彼得，手上还拿着耙子，大喊着，“小偷站住”
彼得害怕的要死，他在花园里乱跑一顿，而且还把鞋子弄丢了。
After losing them, he went faster but he had unfortunately run into a net, and got caught by his jacket. Peter tried hard to exert himself.
Mr. George came up with a sieve, which he intended to pop upon the top of Peter; but Peter wriggled out just in time, leaving his jacket behind him.
And rushed into the tool-shed, and jumped into a can to hide. But Mr. George was quite sure that Peter was somewhere in the tool-shed, so he kept finding.
没了鞋子，彼得跑的飞快，但是不幸的是，彼得竟然撞上了一个网，而且自己的外套还缠上了网里。彼得使劲的想挣脱。
乔治先生拿着筛子过来，他想要罩住彼得，但是彼得及时的挣脱了，他脱掉了外套。
彼得跑向了工具房，然后藏进罐子里。乔治先生知道彼得就藏在工具房里，所以他继续找啊找啊。
Presently Peter sneezed out of a window and Mr. George was after him in no time.
The window was too small for Mr. George, and he was tired of running after Peter. He went back to his work.
Peter sat down to rest; he was out of breath and trembling with fright, and he had not the least idea which way to go. Also he was very damp with sitting in that can. Peter began to cry.
彼得只好急忙的从窗户溜走，乔治先生立即跟上。但是窗户太小了，另外乔治先生也很累了。于是乔治先生只好回去工作了。
彼得也坐下休息，喘着气，全身害怕的颤抖，而且他还迷路了。他全身湿漉漉的，因为罐子里有水。彼得于是哭了。
Then he tried to find his way straight across the garden, but he became more and more puzzled. Presently, he came to a pond but it was the wrong way. Then he came to see Mr George again. And Peter saw the gate!
So Peter ran straight to the gate, leaving Mr. George behind.
然后彼得开始找回家的路，但是他一直找不着。他来到一个池塘，但是也不对。接着他还看到了乔治先生，然后，彼得看见了远处的门！
彼得笔直的跑向出口，远远的抛下了乔治先生。
He was so tired that he flopped down upon the nice soft sand on the floor of the rabbit-hole and shut his eyes. His mother was busy cooking; she wondered what he had done with his clothes.
Peter was not very well during the evening.
His mother put him to bed, and made some camomile tea; and she gave a dose of it to Peter!
“One table-spoonful to be taken at bed-time.”
But Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail had bread and milk and blackberries for supper.
彼得很累，他一回到家，就躺在柔软的沙子上，闭上了眼睛。兔妈妈忙着煮饭，不知道彼得对他自己的衣服又做了什么！
到了晚上，彼得有点不舒服。
兔妈妈把彼得放在床上，然后给他煮了柑橘茶，然后让彼得喝！“睡前一汤匙的柑橘茶。”
彼得要喝茶，而弗洛普茜，默普茜和棉球尾却享用了面包，牛奶还有黑莓作为晚餐。
